This actually worked!
I borrowed my sons Dodge Ram 1500 truck to move some things. I picked up the truck and loaded it in about 20-30 minutes. There was no problem starting the truck when I picked it up and my son said he had not been having any problems with the ignition switch. But, when I tried to turn the key to start the vehicle, it was locked and I could not turn the key. I looked on line for some help. On the net, solutions ranged from trying a different key, spaying carb cleaner or WD40 into the switch and finally replacing the switch. Needless to say I was not going to pull the steering column and attempt to change the switch. First, I tried the WD40 and a different key. Neither of these worked.
I went back on line to search for other solutions. Luckily I found the video below on youtube. I used the palm of my hand instead of a rubber mallet.
